Understanding ADHD Through the Nervous System

ADHD is often misunderstood. It’s not about “fixing” kids — it’s about understanding their nervous system. 🧠 In this video, Dr. Drake explains how stress overload affects kids with ADHD, and how INSiGHT scans and chiropractic adjustments help restore balance. ✨ Kids don’t need to be tamed. They need support for their unique wiring. Watch now and learn how to help your child thrive!

Today I want to talk about something that affects so many families — ADHD. It’s one of the most common childhood diagnoses, but also one of the most misunderstood.

When most people hear ADHD, they think of hyperactivity, poor focus, or impulsive behavior. But beneath those behaviors, what we often see is a sensitive, overwhelmed nervous system. These kids aren’t broken — they’re wired for more activity, more movement, and sometimes more chaos.

The issue is when stress stacks up. Physical stress like injuries or birth interventions, chemical stress like toxins or poor nutrition, and emotional stress like school pressure — all of these load the nervous system. Over time, it becomes harder for the brain and body to regulate. That’s when focus, mood, and behavior challenges show up.

This is where neurologically focused chiropractic care is so powerful. We use INSiGHT scans to measure how well your child’s nervous system is adapting to stress. These scans show us whether subluxation, tension, or imbalance is present.

From there, we use gentle adjustments to release that stress and restore communication between the brain and body. As regulation improves, we often see kids sleep better, focus longer, and handle emotions with more resilience.

The goal isn’t to change who your child is. Their spark, creativity, and energy are gifts. What we want to do is help them regulate so they can thrive in their strengths instead of struggling against stress.

If your family is navigating ADHD and you want a natural, root-cause approach, we’d love to help. Check out our blog for more info, or reach out to schedule an appointment.
