The Hidden Stress Behind Sensory Issues

Is your child easily overwhelmed by certain sounds, textures, or other sensory input? 😣 Do they avoid or crave intense sensory experiences? You’re not alone—sensory processing struggles are more common than you might think! ⬇️ If you’ve ever wondered what’s behind sensory meltdowns, picky eating, and avoidance behaviors, tune in to this video from Dr. Drake! 👏

When your child struggles with sensory challenges—daily meltdowns, refusing to wear certain clothes, picky eating, trouble sleeping, difficulty with transitions—it’s not only exhausting… it’s isolating.

Every meltdown in public—whether it’s at the store or in a restaurant—brings those judgmental stares from people who don’t understand what’s really going on. They don’t see the deeper neurological struggle affecting your child… and your family.

As parents, there’s nothing we want more than to see our children happy and thriving. So when they’re overwhelmed by loud noises, crowded spaces, certain textures, or just everyday transitions, it’s not just frustrating—it’s heartbreaking. Watching your child struggle with situations that should be simple… it takes a toll.

What makes it even harder is that many still chalk these struggles up to “just a phase,” “boys being boys,” or “the terrible twos.” But sensory issues don’t just go away on their own. In fact, they often grow into bigger challenges later in life.

This video is for the parents who feel like they’ve tried everything—therapies, special diets, avoiding triggers—but their child is still struggling.

We’re breaking down exactly what sensory issues are, how they show up in daily life, and most importantly, the why behind them. We’ll walk you through root causes like subluxation and vagus nerve dysfunction, and explore drug-free approaches like neurologically-focused chiropractic care, calming strategies, sensory diets, and more.

Today, sensory challenges are more common than ever—with some estimates showing as many as 1 in 6 children affected. Sadly, conventional care often overlooks or misunderstands these struggles, leaving parents feeling unheard and overwhelmed. This video is here to change that.

You’ll gain real clarity and answers—and walk away with action steps to help bring more calm, peace, and progress to your child’s daily life.

Here’s what’s happening neurologically: Sensory issues involve a breakdown in how the body processes information. And when those systems get overloaded, it causes chaos—confusion, overstimulation, and disorganization in the brain. That’s why sensory issues are so often linked with conditions like Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism, and ADHD.

The key connection here is between the brain and the body—specifically through the sensory nerves. When other systems in the body like digestion, immunity, or movement are out of balance, that stress and inflammation travels to the brain… adding more “noise” and dysregulation.

Two of the most important pathways in this process are the Proprioceptive (movement-based) system and the Vagus Nerve. These are the brain’s natural calming and regulation pathways—so when they’re not functioning well, kids struggle even more to self-regulate.

Interference or dysfunction in these pathways—what we call subluxation—can often be traced back to birth interventions like forceps, vacuum delivery, inductions, or c-sections. It’s one of the most common but overlooked origins of sensory processing challenges.

Many families first turn to Occupational Therapy—and OT can be a great tool! But too often, it doesn’t go far enough. If the underlying neurological dysfunction isn’t addressed, those sensory struggles will keep resurfacing.

That’s where Neurologically-Focused Pediatric Chiropractic care steps in. At Innate Family Chiropractic, we use advanced technology like the INSiGHT Scans to actually measure where those stress patterns and dysfunctions are within your child’s nervous system. Then we create a custom care plan to begin calming and regulating the system at its core.

As we start to restore proper function, your child’s nervous system can finally do what it’s meant to—calm, regulate, adapt. That means better sleep, smoother transitions, fewer meltdowns, and more peace for the whole family.
