POTS Explained: The Complex Causes Behind This Chronic Neurological Condition

Are you or someone you love struggling with POTS but not quite sure why it happens and what’s really causing it? Can you tell your medical doctors don’t really know either and are struggling to explain anything or come up with effective solutions? Dive into our latest video where we break down the complex causes behind Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), from nervous system dysfunction and dysregulation to the role that chronic stress and fatigue play in triggering episodes. 🎥✨ Gain clarity on what might be driving the symptoms and learn the factors that do NOT show up on common medical testing and lab work. Watch now to learn the truth about POTS.

As a parent, watching your teen or young adult child struggle with unexplained dizziness, fatigue, rapid heartbeat, frequent fainting, and near constant anxiety can be terrifying and frustrating.

Every time they stand up or shift positions, you hold your breath, wondering if they'll feel faint or need to sit back down. You've probably been told that POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) runs in the family and that genetics are to blame, or that they simply don’t know what’s causing it.

But the truth is the main cause or trigger of POTS is nervous system dysfunction and dysregulation, specifically within the autonomic nervous system and the nerve that helps control or regulate blood flow, blood pressure, and overall balance within the body – the vagus nerve. Vagus nerve dysfunction and something called subluxation is often to blame for this neurological condition that now affects 1 in 100 teens and is far more common in females than males.

In this video we’ll break down the role that nervous system dysfunction, dysregulation, and dysautonomia play in triggering POTS episodes like rapid heart rate and fainting, and we’ll also explain to you why these things escape common medical exams and testing, and make sure you know how to find out if these issues are truly the root cause of your child’s challenges.

1. Understanding the Real Culprit – An Overstressed and Dysregulated Nervous System.

We are living in the most high stress and highly toxic times ever

All of this constant stress bombards our children’s nervous system and leaves it constantly stuck in a state of sympathetic fight or flight stress mode

2. The Nervous System, Vagus Nerve, and Subluxation Connection:

In response to all this constant and chronic stress, our body’s Vagus Nerve works hard to try and regulate and respond to the constant demand for calming, relaxing, and regulating the body – but eventually it gets worn out, suppressed, and shut down. Specifically if your teen or young adult carries any signs of stress and physical tension in their upper neck, lower neck, shoulders, and mid back – this will create something called subluxation which then interferes with and suppresses the Vagus Nerve as it traces its way through those regions so that it can innervate and control the heart, lungs, digestion, and so forth. POTS is fundamentally a disorder of the autonomic nervous system. When dysregulation occurs, it affects multiple body systems simultaneously.

3. The Role of Subluxation, Dysregulation, and Dysautonomia:

Chronic subluxation and nervous system dysregulation or dysfunction leads to a condition called dysautonomia - a condition where the autonomic nervous system becomes imbalanced. In this condition there is too much sympathetic fight or flight tone and too little parasympathetic / vagus nerve relaxation and regulation.

4. How to Find the Root Cause of Subluxation and Nervous System Dysfunction.

We use advanced diagnostic tools like our INSiGHT Scans to identify specific areas of neurological interference that may be contributing to your child's symptoms. Our scans can actually measure and find dysregulation and dysautonomia, especially our NeuroThermal and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) tests, providing concrete evidence of autonomic nervous system function and tracking improvement over time.
